The LORD’s way

Uncategorized

Psalm 37:23

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

Proverbs 16:9

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

Tonight I was going to make sticky bun dough and put it in the fridge to slowly rise, so we could enjoy yummy, hot sticky buns for breakfast tomorrow…but the Lord has other plans.

trip to BC

We got the call that my son-in-law’s dad just passed away.  From the minute I found out about his passing, I really wanted to go to Dave’s funeral.  To be there to show our love and support to Joey, his sweet mom and family.  (Something that stands out in my mind about our son Benjamin‘s funeral is two friends from 8 hours away that drove up for the funeral, then after the meal, turned around and headed home.  That meant so much to me and spoke more to me than words ever could.)

But I didn’t even mention to Joe that I wanted to go, because I didn’t think it was even a possibility to make the long 16 hour drive.  So today when our daughter called and mentioned that they don’t have a piano player for the funeral and could our oldest daughter come play…it turns out that Joe and I, along with our daughter, will be making the road trip tomorrow.  The LORD directing and ordering our steps.

I really don’t mind road trips – I actually enjoy the time to sit and think without feeling like I need to get up and DO something.  I love to pray in the van for the same reason…no distractions or anything that I feel like I have to jump up to do.  I also enjoy the conversation that we have as a family in the van…it varies from Bible topics, personal concerns, and burdens, to what we’ve recently read in our Bible or a biography we’re reading or maybe about some conversation we recently had with a friend on the phone.  We literally talk about everything.  I love it.

And I love sitting in the van holding my sweet hubby’s hand.  Love it.  Over 30 years of marriage and I’m still not tired of it!

Please pray for us as we travel tomorrow.  And please be in prayer for Joey’s family and friends of the family, as there will be lost folks attending the funeral.  I know if Dave could have anything come of his death it would be that someone – or someones! – would come to know the Lord as their personal Saviour.  That would be thrilling!  And I think we might even be able to hear his shouting up there in heaven, should that happen.  🙂

I need to go pack, then get in bed, since we’re heading out early tomorrow morning.

I hope you all have a wonderful, Christ-filled week.

Hugs, Mitzi

Praying for you there. Have a safe trip. Where is the funeral?
So glad you are available to serve when needed. It’s wonderful to see God orchestrate our steps and service. I’m preparing the ladies meeting for Sat. Pray for me, too. Hugs and condolences to family.
    God bless you all.
